After 2 years of operating from Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre, we now have a new home just across the road in Royal Square Medical Centre. This new facility has been designed with an open-concept gym in mind, while providing privacy to patients undergoing any musculoskeletal rehabilitation or physiological test. Such a design not only enables us to provide you with a more spacious and comfortable environment when you come in for your sessions, but also ensures that both our testing and exercise equipment are housed under one roof.
The new space stretches over 3 units with a total floor space of about 1500 square feet, which is about 50% bigger than our old unit. Most of our heavy gym equipment are placed in the main unit, where you will get to enjoy the view overlooking Novena while getting your workout or cardiac and cancer rehabilitation done.
The testing equipment for the resting metabolism rate and metabolic efficiency test, which were previously on a different level to the gym equipment, is now tucked neatly in the corner with privacy curtains that can be drawn when you are doing your metabolic health screening or sports performance test. The plinth in the corner not only allows our physiotherapists to work on you, but also for our exercise physiologist to perform your resting metabolic rate test.
The secondary unit, while still under renovation, has been designed for a plethora of uses. With a bigger open area, it gives us more floor to do mat – work, as well as hold small group classes. The group classes will be of much benefit to many of you as it will not only help to keep the cost down, but also enable you to bring your buddies or make new friends during these sessions. These group classes will not only be for those undergoing cardiac or cancer rehabilitation, but also for those who need chronic disease management or help with achieving a more physically active lifestyle. It will also be outfitted with equipment for suspension training (and perhaps even a barbell cage) to provide you with more functional work with your friends.
Another exciting use of this open area is the ability to hold talks and workshops so that we can reach out to you and your community. We have always been big advocates of public education, which can be seen from our corporate outreaches at health screening events and corporate lunch talks. This space will thus allow us to have a more consistent frequency of public education of topics related to health, diet, exercise, and medicine. To reach out to the general public, we will also be posting articles on different health topics biweekly.
If you are as excited as we are on upcoming articles, head online and follow us on both our Facebook and Instagram page to receive the latest updates when we publish and article!
